SSRA MONTHLY MEETING INFORMATION
MEETINGS & EVENTS
Members are encouraged to attend quarterly meetings. They may bring a guest/guests and purchasing a lunch is not required.
The first luncheon/meeting of the school year will be Thursday, October 1st again at Ivar’s Salmon House.
Time frame:
- 10:30 CHECK IN AND SOCIAL HOUR
- 11:30 LUNCH SERVICE
- 12:15 GUEST SPEAKER
- 1:30 ADJOURN
Lunch menu choices will be listed in The Bulletin which will be mailed out in mid-September. Make reservations by contacting Patricia MacGowan by email (cmacgowan@comcast.net) or by phone at 206 851-0232. Please make reservations by Thursday, September 24th.
Members and guests may attend only the meeting without purchasing lunch.
Cost for the lunch will still be only $20 per person.
GUEST SPEAKER
By popular demand, Dr. Lance Rhoades is returning and this time will present a special program centering on “monsters in the movies.” He will mention many films including Nosferatu (both the silent film as well as the more recent one), Dracula, The Wolfman, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, as well as others. He will cover films from the silent movie era through the 1950’s. Please join us for this special program.
Dr. Rhoades is a multifaceted Seattle-based scholar who completed his graduate studies in Comparative Literature and Cinema Studies at the University of Washington and has spoken throughout the country and abroad on film history.

COORDINATING COUNCIL MEETINGS
WSSRA Northwest II COORDINATING COUNCIL includes all the King County Units: Seattle, East King, Renton-South King, and Southwest King units. Northwest II meets three to four times each year, usually on a Friday morning, 9 A.M. until noon followed by a no-host lunch. Officers and Committee chairs of each unit are urged to attend to exchange ideas and to discuss business items to and from the WSSRA Board. Any member of a local unit may attend.
